The upcoming episode of the Kerry Washington-starring drama will take you to the night of Francisco Vargas' assassination.

AceShowbiz - "Scandal" promises to answer the long-burning question about who killed Frankie Vargas in next week's episode. A preview for the upcoming outing offers glimpses of flashback scenes in which Vargas and his supporters celebrate his election win, before a shot is fired. The screen then turns black and Olivia is heard asking someone, "Was it you?"

Titled "Extinction", the new episode airs Thursday, March 16 at 9/8c on ABC. Rowan is caught by surprise when someone from his past resurfaces, and Olivia has to make a life-changing decision about the campaign. Meanwhile, flashbacks reveal exactly what happened the night of Francisco Vargas' assassination.

The latest episode which aired March 9 revealed another twist, though it wasn't as big as who killed Vargas. "They All Bow Down" revealed [SPOILER ALERT!] that it was Jake (Scott Foley) who blew up the cabin on Rowan's order, but he faked Jennifer Fields' death.

"I believe that Jake thinks he has a moral compass," Foley says to The Hollywood Reporter of his character's conflicted moral. "Everything he does is for the greater good. Whether his true north is true north, that's up for debate. I think that he could make an argument for everything he's done."

Foley also tells TVLine, "They made it look as if Jake was really the bad guy, sort of creepy, freaking Olivia out. Then the fact that he ended up doing what seems to be the right thing - not taking out Jennifer, then returning her Olivia - I loved it. You think he's wearing the black hat, but oh my God! Now he's got the white one on!"
