Margot Robbie to Star in Robin Hood Spin-Off 'Marian'

AceShowbiz - "Suicide Squad" actress Margot Robbie will portray Maid Marian in "Marian", a movie based on Robin Hood folklore. The Maid Marian standalone movie will center on Maid Marian's struggle following the death of Robin Hood, the love of her life.

According to Deadline, Robbie's Marian will pick up the pieces of Robin Hood's rebellion after his death. She will later lead her people into a war and become a legend herself as she dons the mantle of the man she loves.

In the folklore, Marian is a figure which is sometimes associated with the Lady of May of May Day, the personification of spring holiday. Her role as Robin Hood's love interest emerged sometime in fifteenth or sixteenth century.

Marian is one of many Robin Hood-related movies which are in the works. One of the movies is "Robin Hood: Origins" which stars Taron Egerton as the titular character, Jamie Foxx as Little John and Eve Hewson as Marian. The movie is currently filming and set to be released on March 2018.

Robbie is best-known for her portrayal as Harley Quinn in DC movie "Suicide Squad". She will reprise her role as the pig-tailed anti-heroine in the upcoming "Suicide Squad" spin-off "Gotham City Sirens". Robbie's other upcoming movies include live-action/CGI hybrid film "Peter Rabbit", "Goodbye Christopher Robin" and Tonya Harding biopic "I, Tonya".

"Marian" will be produced by Donald De Line, Amy Pascal, Rock Shaink and Robbie's LuckyChap Entertainment. Screenwriter Pete Barry is set to pen the script.
