The 'Last Christmas' hitmaker and the frontman of Coldplay light up the award-giving ceremony's stage by paying homage to the legendary singer.

AceShowbiz - Wham! and Chris Martin paid tribute to George Michael at the 2017 BRIT Awards. The remaining member of Wham!, Andrew Ridgeley, along with the duo's famous backing vocalists Pepsi and Shirlie, delivered a touching speech about the "Fastlove" hitmaker before welcoming Martin onstage.

The tribute began with Ridgeley starting a speech about his former group mate. "On Christmas Day 2016, the greatest singer-songwriter of his generation, an icon of his era, and my beloved friend, George Michael was lost," he said.

He continued, "A supernova in a firmament of shining stars had been extinguished and it felt like the sky had fallen in. It started out ordinarily enough. In 1975 we were two boys who happened to share a mutual sense of humor, a love of life-affirming music, the artists and record it gave birth to, and a shared sense that we understood it."

Pepsi later chimed in, "We always knew George was destined to become a star in his own right. His voice was stunning, pitch-perfect and his performances spell-binding. George, Andrew and Shirlie changed my life by choosing me to join Wham!"

Shirlie, who was tearful while delivering her speech, exposed Michael's good deeds during her turn. She shared, "Anyone who asked for George's help eventually got it. George was like a brother to me and I always be so proud of his incredible achievements."

Ridgeley wrapped up their speech by introducing Martin, who entered the stage and sang Michael's hit song, "A Different Corner", from the legend's 1986 album "Music from the Edge of Heaven". Martin delivered a mesmerizing performance in his usual casual attire, jeans and a black long sleeve tee. The frontman of Coldplay was backed by an orchestra throughout his performance. Halfway through the song, Martin was "joined" by Michael, who appeared through a video on a screen behind Martin.
