AceShowbiz - The first official picture from the set of the untitled stand-alone Star Wars film II has arrived as principal photography kicks off at Pinewood Studios, London. The photo shows directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord crowding inside Millennium Falcon along with the cast members.

There are Alden Ehrenreich who will play a young Han Solo, Donald Glover as a young Lando Calrissian, and Joonas Suotamo dressing up as Chewbacca. They are also joined by Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Emilia Clarke.

Chewbacca was originally played by Peter Mayhew. Suotamo will have the role all to himself after previously playing double for the iconic character in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". It will be the first time Mayhew will not play Chewbacca although he is expected to return for other "Star Wars" movies.

Supported by Thandie Newton, the spin-off will explore Han Solo and Wookiee's adventures before the events of "Star Wars: A New Hope", including their early encounters with the other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian.

"Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous," Lord and Miller said. "We can't think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky."

Written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, the film is slated for U.S. release on May 25, 2018.
