The six-episode series recounts the story of a 16-year-old Bronx high school student who commited suicide after being jailed in solitary confinement on Rikers Island for allegedly stealing a backpack.

AceShowbiz - Spike has announced a release date for six-episode documentary "TIME: The Kalief Browder Story" which is produced by Jay-Z and Harvey Weinstein from The Weinstein Company. The miniseries will begin airing on Wednesday, March 1 at 10 P.M. ET on Spike.

"TIME: The Kalief Browder Story" recounts the story of Kalief Browder, a 16-year-old Bronx high school student who commited suicide in 2015 after being held for three years, two of them in solitary confinement on Rikers Island for allegedly stealing a backpack. The docuseries is chronicled through archival footage, cinematic recreations as well as interviews with family, friends, politicians and social reformers.

"The story on the evening news created a lot of attention and action around Kalief Browder, but it wasn't the whole story," director Jenner Furst explained. "If Kalief Browder's life matters, then his whole life matters, and that's how we have been approaching this project."

Meanwhile, Jay-Z said in a statement, "Kalief Browder is a modern-day prophet; his story a failure of a judicial process." He added, "A young man, and I emphasize young man, who lost his life because of a broken system. His tragedy has brought atrocities to light, and now we must confront the issues and events that occured so other young men can have a chance at justice."
