The Recording Academy has announced that the '24K Magic' singer will join performers at the 2017 Grammy Awards.

AceShowbiz - The 2017 Grammy Awards adds Bruno Mars to its list of performers. The 31-year-old singer joins Adele, John Legend, Metallica, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban who were previously announced to headline the awards-giving event.

Mars' performance will mark his return as a performer to the Grammy's stage. It will be his first time to sing at the awards-giving event in four years. Mars' last Grammy Award performance was back in 2013, when he lighted up the show by performing one of his hit songs, "Locked Out of Heaven", and a special rendition for Bob Marley.

Mars will not only attend the 2017 Grammy Awards as a performer, but also a nominee for Album of the Year. Mars is not nominated for his own album as he is nominated for his work on singer Adele's "25" album instead. Mars co-produced one of Adele's hit songs on the album, "All I Ask".

Mars' latest album entered the Billboard 200 chart at No.2 immediately after its release. But, despite the success of "24K Magic", the album cannot be nominated at the 2017 Grammy Awards. Mars' third album's release date missed the deadline for eligibility for the 2017 show since the album was released on November 18, 2016. And the time frame that the Recording Academy set for this year's ceremony was October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2016.

The 2017 Grammy Awards will be hosted by "The Late Late Show with James Corden" host James Corden. He succeeds rapper LL Cool J who had hosted the ceremony for five years in a row. The 59th annual Grammy Awards will air live from the Staples Center, Los Angeles on February 12 on CBS starting at 5 P.M.
