The singer's management sued FEG Entretenimientos for breach of contract, claiming their late payments gave Carey the right to cancel and be paid in full.

AceShowbiz - Mariah Carey is suing back at South American concert promoters after she canceled shows in Argentina and Chile last year because they didn't pay her in full. According to a lawsuit filed on Tuesday, January 10 in L.A. County Superior Court, Mirage Entertainment as Carey's management sued FEG Entretenimientos for breach of contract, claiming their late payments gave Carey the right to cancel and be paid in full.

Attorney Bryan Freedman wrote in the complaint, "In the music industry everyone knows the familiar story of the deceitful promoter that promises to pay and fails to deliver." He continued, "This lawsuit is filed in part not only to confirm the multiple breaches of the contracts by FEG... but to warn the artistic community not to trust any promises from FEG."

Carey was scheduled to perform on October 28 in Argentina and on October 30 in Chile, but by October 25 there was still a large unpaid money for both shows. With only a few days remaining before the shows, Freedman argues that it was impossible for Carey and her team to pay the traveling expenses.

Previously, Daily Mail reported that promoters in Chile were preparing a lawsuit against the "Obsessed" hitmaker for financial losses and brand image damage. The lawsuit is expected to be filed in a Los Angeles court later this week. According to reports, the promoters' parent company in Buenos Aires, Argentina could take similar legal actions against the singer.

Earlier this week, Mimi announced her decision to take a break from social media to focus on her upcoming tour in March. She said, "Although I am going to fulfill my professional obligations. This is an important time for me to finally take a moment for myself, to be with my loved ones, and to prepare for my upcoming tour in March. I just want to thank everyone for their support, thank you to all my industry friends and thank you to my Lambs, you're always there for me. I can't imagine life without you and you'll always be a part of me. I can't wait to sing for you again."

While she decided to take social media hiatus, Carey might treat her fans to new music. Showbiz 411's Roger Friedman reports, "I hear that L.A. Reid and Epic Records want to release a new single by Mariah in three weeks. They've got it, and feel that she needs something on radio to remind people Carey can really sing - not just lip sync."
