The fifth and final season of the horror drama will also feature Rihanna to recur as Marion Crane, who was famously played by Janet Leigh in the 1960 film.

AceShowbiz - "Bates Motel" is coming to A&E earlier than expected. The horror drama, which traditionally debuted in March, will premiere its fifth and final season on February 20 at 10 P.M. EST.

The final 10-episode will descend into a full "Psycho" origin. "It is, in a way, the funniest, [with] the most dark comedy," showrunner Kerry Ehrin says. "I would say it still somehow manages to be weirdly life affirming," she claims.

The series will also incorporate Rihanna to recur as Marion Crane in season 5. The character was famously played by Janet Leigh in the Alfred Hitchcock directed thriller.

"She was an incredibly sweet and hard working person and we couldn't be more thrilled," says Ehrin. "The episodes that she's in were very much designed to be like a collision between 'Psycho' and 'Bates Motel', and really it's the first and only time we've ever truly stepped into 'Psycho'," she explains.

"Bates Motel" stars Vera Farmiga as Norma Louise Bates, Freddie Highmore as Norman Bates, Max Thieriot as Dylan Massett, Olivia Cooke as Emma Decody and Nestor Carbonell as Sheriff Alex Romero.
