Series creators Robert and Michelle King say that they needed to rewrite the script on the eighth day of filming on 'The Good Wife' spin-off.

AceShowbiz - "The Good Fight" creators Michelle and Robert King revealed that they had to rewrite the story of "The Good Wife" spin-off while the pilot was already in production. They needed to change the script after Donald Trump won the presidential election.

"Like most pollsters, we thought Hillary Clinton would win the Presidency, so we wrote scenes about Diane (Christine Baranski) retiring from the law because she 'broke every glass ceiling,' " the Kings said in the latest print issue of Entertainment Weekly. "Obviously we needed to rewrite - on the 8th day of shooting," Robert added.

According to the Kings, there was a scene in the pilot that showed Diane Lockhart basking in the inaugural glow of Hillary Clinton, who was expected to be the next President. The new series follows Lockhart, who steps away from her legal career just as her goddaughter, Maia (Rose Leslie), begins hers. The pilot was supposed to be a culmination of female power under Clinton as the President.

"The show tends to be a satire of the liberal mindset, so it felt funny and awful to play off Diane's stunned reaction to the (Trump) inauguration," Robert said. They also want the show to be as current as possible. "It's important to anticipate events that haven't happened yet. I think it's safe to anticipate the Trump inauguration," he said of the rewrites.

"The Good Fight" will premiere on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 8 P.M. ET on CBS and CBS All Access.
