The Rock, who takes the role of the supervillain in 'Shazam', also posts the same photo featuring him and Cavill, along with the caption which hints that the two DC characters will fight in the movie.

AceShowbiz - It looks like Superman will make an appearance in DC's "Shazam". On Sunday, December 25, Henry Cavill took to Instagram to wish his fans a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year along with an image featuring him and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who takes the role of Black Adam in the upcoming superhero movie.

"Merry Christmas a Happy New Year from Superman and Black Adam @therock," the Man of Steel depicter wrote in the caption. "Today we drink like gentleman and come together as friends. We're excited for what the future brings," he added.

Johnson also posted the same picture, which caption suggested that they were discussing their futures in the DCEU. "#DangerousGentleman #DCWorldsWillCollide #Superman," he wrote, prompting fans to speculate that the two powerful characters will fight in future DC movies, presumably "Shazam".

"Shazam" follows Young Billy Batson who finds himself gifted with the power of the wizard Shazam to fight against the forces of evil. With the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles and the speed of Mercury, he is the holder of the power of Shazam, formerly known as Captain Marvel.

It's unclear when the production will begin, but Warner Bros. has set an April 5, 2019 release for the upcoming DC movie. Aside from Johnson, actors attached to the project include Hiram Garcia, Michael Uslan, Peter Segal and Michael Ewing.

Cavill will next be seen as Superman in Zack Snyder's "Justice League". As previously reported, the Kryptonian superhero might clash again with Ben Affleck's Batman in the superhero team-up movie. Coming to U.S. theaters on November 17, 2017, it also stars Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher.
