Hugh Jackman Took a Paycut So That 'Logan' Could Get R-Rating

Director James Mangold reveals that Jackman sacrificed his pay so that the third 'Wolverine' movie could secure its R-rating.

AceShowbiz - We should thank Hugh Jackman for "Logan" 's R-rating. It was reported that following the success of "Deadpool", the third and final "Wolverine" movie was also aiming for a grittier and darker tone. "Logan" managed to secure the R-rating and now it's revealed that the Australian actor played a big part in making it happen.

"Logan" helmer told attendees at the 2016 Butt-Numb-A-Thon event on Sunday, December 11 that Jackman sacrificed his pay for the R-rating. Ain't It Cool's Eric Vespe spread the news via Twitter, posting, "Mangold said that Hugh Jackman took a salary cut because he wanted to do an R-rated movie."

In the upcoming film that marks the last time Jackman's playing the adamantium-clawed mutant, Logan and Professor X (Patrick Stewart) who must cope with the loss of the X-Men when a corporation led by Nathaniel Essex is destroying the world. With Logan's healing abilities slowly fading away and Xavier's Alzheimer's forcing him to forget, Logan must defeat Nathaniel Essex with the help of Laura Kinney (Dafne Keen).

Other actors starring in the movie include Boyd Holbrook as the villainous leader of the Reavers called Donald Pierce and Stephen Merchant as an albino mutant named Caliban.

"Logan" is set to open in theaters across the nation on March 3, 2017.
