'Moana' Edges Out 'Office Christmas Party' at Box Office With $18.8M

The Disney animated movie still tops North America box office in its third weekend, beating out the holiday-themed comedy starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman.

AceShowbiz - "Moana" stays atop North American box office in its third weekend with an estimated $18.8 million. The Disney animated movie featuring the voices of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Auli'i Cravalho edges out "Office Christmas Party" which debuts at No. 2 with approximately $17.5 million.

Overseas, "Moana" grosses another $23.5 million for a global catch of $238.8 million, while "Office Christmas Party" earns $16.3 million for a worldwide total of $33.9 million, against a production budget of $45 million.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" takes the third place with approximately $10.8 million. The "Harry Potter" spin-off is expected to cross the $200 million mark sometime on Monday. Paramount's "Arrival" lands in fourth place with an estimated $5.6 million. Marvel's "Doctor Strange", meanwhile, rounds out the top five, nabbing around $4.6 million for a global total of $222.4 million.
