The One Directioner performs his first solo single on 'The X-Factor' to pay tribute to his mother who lost her battle with leukemia.

AceShowbiz - Louis Tomlinson returned to "The X-Factor U.K." this weekend. Wearing a white T-shirt and dark jeans, the One Direction star shared the stage with DJ Steve Aoki to perform his first solo single "Just Hold On" live for the first time.

The singer who just lost his mother Johannah to leukemia kissed his fingers and looked up to the sky at the end of his performance. Although he didn't mention anything about his mom's passing, audience saw it as a tribute to the late woman.

"Oh until it's all been said, it's not over until your dying breath," his lyrics sounded poignant. "So what do you want them to say when you're gone? That you gave up or that you kept going on? What do you do when a chapter ends? Do you close the book and never read it again?"

"Where do you go when your story's done," he continued. "You can be who you want or who you'll become. Oh if it all goes wrong, oh darling just hold on. The sun goes down and it comes back up. The world still turns no matter what."

Louis Tomlinson's mother Johannah died of leukemia on December 7. He went forwards with the "X-Factor" performance because it's reportedly one of his mother's last wishes. "All the support has been incredible! Let's do this together tonight," he wrote to his fans on Twitter before taking the stage.

His baby mama Briana Jungwirth also paid tribute on Instagram, "My heart aches. Every time I look at Freddie, I see you in him Jay. I will always remember the times we shared and the talks we had. I looked up to you and sadly only knowing you for a short time, I aspired to be just like you in a mother to Freddie. I promise to share with him all of what I know of you including your beautiful attributes. We both loved you very much. You'll always stay close forever in our hearts."
