Labrinth performed medley of 'Frozen' and 'Like a Prayer', while Alessia Cara sang her uplifting new single 'Scars to Your Beautiful'.

AceShowbiz - The 2016 Billboard Women in Music Awards showcased exceptional performances from both rising and established artists. Besides hosting the event, Hailee Steinfeld also performed her current top hit "Starving". The 19-year-old singer/actress played a stripped-down version of the song after being introduced by country star Maren Morris.

Aside from Hailee, Fifth Harmony took the stage to pay tribute to Meghan Trainor, who canceled her performance at the event due to illness, with a cover of "Like I'm Gonna Lose You". With only an acoustic guitar backing them, the quintet performed a ballad rendition of the song.

Halsey, who earned the Rising Star honor, sang her "Badlands" track "Color" for everyone at the venue. Meanwhile, Alessia Cara, who received the Rulebreaker Award, performed her uplifting new single "Scars to Your Beautiful".

British R&B star Labrinth took the stage to perform medley of "Frozen" and "Like a Prayer" before honoring Madonna with Woman of the Year Award. The Queen of Pop began her acceptance speech with some provocative jokes.

"I always feel better with something hard between my legs," she said while straddling the microphone stand. She continued, "I stand before you as a doormat. Oh, I mean, as a female entertainer. Thank you for acknowledging my ability to continue my career for 34 years in the face of blatant sexism and misogyny and constant abuse."

She also offered advice to women following in her footsteps as she said, "What I would like to say to all women here today is this: Women have been oppressed for so long they believe what men have to say about them. As women, we have to start appreciating our own and each other's worth. Seek out strong women to befriend to align yourself with and to learn from, to collaborate with, to be inspired by and enlightened by. True solidarity amongst women is a power on its own."

Another honoree Kesha, formerly Ke$ha, also delivered a moving speech at the event as she received Trailblazer Award. She said, "Thank you so much for reminding me that what I'm doing is worth it ... If I can't give up, then neither can anyone else with big dreams." She ended the speech with a message to all women as she said, "You are worth it, and thank you for reminding me that I'm worth it too."
