Before sharing the latest birthday message on Twitter on Sunday, October 23, the Olympic swimmer said his dog Carter turned 8 in 2015 and 2014.

AceShowbiz - Ryan Lochte remembers his dog's birthday, but he seriously needs someone to tell him how old the canine really is. The swimmer appeared to forget his dog's age as he celebrated its 8th birthday for the third year in a row on Sunday, October 23.
Lochte posted on Twitter that day a picture of his dog sitting in front of a bottle of beer. "8 years ago this handsome son of mine was born. You deserve a beer buddy. Haha jk!" so he wrote in the caption.
Later, a fan pointed out that the dog also turned 8 in 2015 and 2014. User @wholegrainne shared screen grabs of three tweets Lochte had posted to wish his pal a happy birthday. One post sent out last year said, "8 years ago to this day my handsome son was born, Carter Lochte 10-23-2007. Happy birthday buddy, we got another 8!"
A year prior, he wrote alongside two pictures of the dog in a blue party hat, "8 years ago Today Carter was born. I love you lil buddy. Happy Birthday!"

But this year, Lochte finally realized that dogs get older too. He immediately removed the latest birthday message and replaced it with a new one that read, "9 years ago this handsome son of mine was born. Happy birthday buddy, many more to come! Love you! #mansbestfriend."
