The 46-year-old 'Star Wars' veteran says he will appear in 'Episode VIII' and teases what to expect from the follow-up to 'The Force Awakens' by saying, 'It'll leave us with some cliffhangers.'

AceShowbiz - "Star Wars" veteran Warwick Davis has confirmed that he has a role in "Star Wars Episode VIII". Talking about "Star Wars: The Force Awakens with news.com.au, the Wicket the Ewok in "Return of the Jedi" said he would appear in the eighth "Star Wars" movie, but he refused to tell what character he would play. "I do, yes," he said. "That's all I can say."

"I enjoyed ['The Force Awakens'] immensely," he shared. "I'm excited by J.J. Abrams work anyway, I love his style. For me it's very reminiscent of the films I went to when I was a kid. I loved 'Super 8' and I love ['Star Trek Beyond'], and it just reminded me of many of the great films of the 1980s. There was such a great energy, I think he captured the humor of the original trilogy so well."

Davis, 46, continued, "What we loved about those films was that they didn't take themselves too seriously in places and were able to kind of look at themselves and have a bit of a chuckle. There were some wonderful moments, some moving moments and it was full of all the action that we expect, so for me it ticked all the boxes, I loved it."

The British actor went on to tease what to expect from the eighth "Star Wars" movie. "I think ['The Force Awakens'] sets up the trilogy very well," he said. "Obviously we're moving into the territory of 'Episode VIII' very soon as well. And much like 'Empire Strikes Back', I'm sure it's going to deliver some quite impactful story moments, and it'll leave us with some cliffhangers as well which resolve in ['Star Wars Episode IX']."

"Star Wars Episode VIII" is set for a December 15, 2017 release in U.S. theaters. The eighth installment of the "Star Wars" movie franchise centers on the story of Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Leia (Carrie Fisher) and other characters as they fight back the force of the First Order.

Other returning cast members include Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong'o and Andy Serkis who reprise their roles as Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma, General Hux, Maz Kanata and Supreme Leader Snoke respectively.
