A new report says that Iman let Bowie's godson take a portion of his ashes and scatter it at the spiritual event which he had a special connection to.

AceShowbiz - David Bowie was part of the 2016 Burning Man that took place earlier this month. The beloved late singer's ashes were scattered at the annual gathering in the Nevada desert over Labor Day weekend, E! News reported.

According to the publication, Bowie's widow Iman let his godson take a portion of his ashes and leave it at the spiritual event which he had a special connection to. "David's godchild and David had long talks about Burning Man and what it stands for, and David loved the message behind it," a source said.

At the Burning Man, around 70 people honored Bowie with a small ceremony at the Temple, a huge structure for attendees to pay tribute to their loved ones. "We played [Bowie's] music the entire drive from our camp to the Temple and back," an eyewitness said. "Most of us had the Bowie [lightning bolt] face paint on in his honor." The Temple was burnt down at the end of the week-long event.

Bowie passed away in January, just days after his 69th birthday. He had been battling cancer for 18 months prior to his death. His widow Iman recently made her first public appearance since his passing at New York Fashion Week. At the time, she was seen wearing a necklace with the word "David" on it.

In an interview with Joe Zee on "Good Morning America", Iman said the necklace was created by designer Hedi Slimane and she would never take it off until the day she dies.
