Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling Eyed to Join Oprah Winfrey in Disney's 'A Wrinkle in Time'

The 'Hot Pursuit' star and the Disgust of 'Inside Out (2015)' are expected to share screen with the 62-year-old actress in the film adaptation of 1962's classic children's book by Madeleine L'Engle.

AceShowbiz - Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling are currently in negotiations to star in Disney's "A Wrinkle in Time". According to The Hollywood Reporter, they are expected to share screen with Oprah Winfrey in the film adaptation of 1962's classic children's book by Madeleine L'Engle.

If the deals are sealed, Witherspoon will portray a former celestial being named Mrs. Whatsit, while Kaling will play a literature-quoting known as Mrs. Who. They will complete the trio of supernatural beings including Mrs. Which, who will be portrayed by Winfrey.

Ava DuVarnay will helm the fantasy film from a screenplay provided by "Frozen (2013)" scribe and co-director Jennifer Lee. Jim Whitaker serves as producer with Catherine Hand, with Tendo Nagenda and Jessica Virtue overseeing for Disney. Filming is expected to begin in Los Angeles this year in November for an April 16, 2018 release in U.S. theaters.

The fantasy film revolves around teenager Meg Murry, her genius brother Charles Wallace and classmate Calvin O'Keefe. They launch an interplanetary mission to rescue the siblings' missing scientist father. Along the way, they are counseled by the mysterious trio of Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which.

Witherspoon recently finished filming her part on "Big Little Lies", HBO's miniseries directed by Jean-Marc Vallee which she exec produced with Nicole Kidman. The "Hot Pursuit" star lends her voice to Rosita in the upcoming "Sing". Meanwhile, Kaling lent her voice to Disgust in "Inside Out (2015)". The 37-year-old actress is the main star of Hulu's "The Mindy Project".
