Here's a First Look at Denzel Washington and Viola Davis in Adaptation of 'Fences'

Paramount Pictures has unveiled two official images from 'Fences' which offer first look at Denzel, Viola and Stephen Henderson in the film adaptation of August Wilson's 1983 play.

AceShowbiz - Paramount Pictures has unveiled two official images from "Fences". Making their way out via The Hollywood Reporter, the photos offer first look at Troy and Rose Maxon sharing an embrace. They are portrayed by Denzel Washington and Viola Davis respectively in the film adaptation of August Wilson's 1983 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play.

Denzel and Viola reprise their respective roles from the hit 2010 Broadway production which was produced by Scott Rudin. The play received Tony Awards for Best Revival of a Play, Best Actor in a Play (Denzel) and Best Actress in a Play (Viola). Mykelti Williamson, Russell Hornsby and Stephen Henderson, who is also featured in another image alongside Denzel, are also set to reprise their respective roles in the drama.

Denzel also directs "Fences" from a screenplay provided by the playwright Wilson. Rudin once again serves as producer along with Denzel and Todd Black ("The Pursuit of Happyness"). "Fences" focuses on an African American father who struggles with race relations in the United States while trying to raise his family in the 1950s and coming to terms with the events of his life.

The drama is scheduled for a limited release in U.S. theaters on December 16 this year. It also stars Jovan Adepo, Saniyya Sidney, Christopher Mele and Terri Middleton.
