Idris Elba Confirms He Is Done Filming His Part in 'The Dark Tower'

AceShowbiz - The production on Sony Pictures' fantasy western film "The Dark Tower" will likely be completed soon. Actor Idris Elba, who portrays the protagonist Roland Deschain, took to Twitter on Sunday, August 28 to confirm that he already finished filming his part in the upcoming film.

Asked by fan about how things came along with "The Dark Tower", the Krall of "Star Trek Beyond" answers, "I'm done filming." The film will apparently have special effects to create the apocalyptic world as the 43-year-old continues, "Spoke to the director the other day and he said the edit is coming along really well."

In the upcoming fantasy thriller, Elba stars opposite Matthew McConaughey, who portrays the villainous Walter Padick a.k.a. the Man in Black, and Jackie Earle Haley, who plays the fearsome vampire leader Richard Sayre. Tom Taylor, Katheryn Winnick, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Michael Barbieri and Fran Kranz are among the cast members of the movie which is scheduled for a February 17, 2017 release in U.S. theaters.

Anders Thomas Jensen, Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner co-wrote the screenplay based on Stephen King's fantasy novels. Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, "The Dark Tower" focuses on Deschain who roams an Old West-like landscape in search of a dark tower, which is rumored to be a magical portal to other worlds.
