Dwayne Johnson Confirms New 'Jumanji' Won't Be a Reboot

While announcing that he finished filming 'Fast 8' in an Instagram post he shared on Friday, August 19, the Rock also clarified that the new 'Jumanji' film is indeed a continuation of the original.

AceShowbiz - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has confirmed that "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" is not a remake of the 1995 original pic. While announcing that he finished filming "Fast and Furious 8" in an Instagram post he shared on Friday, August 19, the 44-year-old actor also clarified that the upcoming "Jumanji" film is indeed a continuation of the original movie.

He wrote in the caption, "And now in two weeks I'll reunite with ol' friends Kevin Hart & Jack Black and we have the honor to introduce a whole new generation to the amazing world of #JUMANJI." He pointed out, "For the record we are NOT making a reboot, but rather a continuation of the awesome JUMANJI story."

The former wrestler also expressed his enthusiasm for starring in the upcoming film alongside his "Central Intelligence" co-star and the "Goosebumps" actor, saying, "It's also crazy to me how much me, Kev and Jack look like triplets when we're together." He added, "Man this is gonna be FUN."

Directed by Jake Kasdan, the fantasy film also stars "Scream Queens" and "Goat" actor Nick Jonas. The screenplay is provided by Zach Helm, Chris McKenna, Jeff Pinkner, Scott Rosenberg and Erik Sommers. The film is produced by Matt Tolmach, William Teitler and Ted Field, with Mike Weber and Van Allsburg executive producing.

The new "Jumanji" film is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on July 28, 2017.
