Tony Stark Could Make Cameo in 'Doctor Strange'

A source who claims to have spies bagging him the scoop says that the playboy philanthropist may have a cameo role in the Benedict Cumberbatch-starring film.

AceShowbiz - Robert Downey Jr. is currently filming his cameo part as Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man in "Spider-Man: Homecoming". But rumor has it, he could show up as the character earlier in "Doctor Strange". A source who claimed to have spies bagging him the scoop took to Twitter on Friday, August 12 to say that the playboy philanthropist "may have a cameo" role in the Benedict Cumberbatch-starring film.

Fans began to speculate about Stark's involvement after actor Benedict Wong recently tweeted that the filming just wrapped up on August 15. The message was different from the earlier tweets posted by director Scott Derrickson as MCUExchange noted the helmer said that the filming finished back on April 3. This difference made fans wonder if Downey Jr. filmed some scenes on the set of "Doctor Strange" between the four-month gap.

Iron Man's appearance won't be a big surprise as Marvel is no stranger to featuring an Avenger member in another Marvel film. Thor was introduced in "Iron Man 2" as his hammer was featured in the credits. Meanwhile, Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner a.k.a. Hulk will show up in the upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok".

Marvel's "Doctor Strange" follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions.

Based in New York City's Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.

Derrickson directed the film from a script written by Jon Spaihts. "Doctor Strange" will hit U.S. theaters on November 4. The action fantasy movie also stars Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen, Scott Adkins, Michael Stuhlbarg and Amy Landecker.
