Combining old and never-before-seen footage, the video reveals new details about Galen Erso (Mads Mikklesen) who somehow gets the plans for the Death Star out to the Rebels.

AceShowbiz - A new international trailer for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" has been released for the Japanese fans. Combining old and never-before-seen footage, the video reveals new details about how the Rebellion knows that the Empire is building an imminent "major weapon test" known as the Death Star.

The new footage features Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly) who tells Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) about the coded Imperial transmission the Rebellion has intercepted. "It indicates that a major weapons test is imminent," Mon says.

Cassian informs Jyn that "the message was sent by your father." Judging from the dialogue, it's confirmed that Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen) is the one who somehow gets the Imperial's plans for the Death Star out to the Rebels. The video also offers a glimpse of the black-armored Death Troopers.

Directed by Gareth Edwards from a screenplay written by Chris Weitz, the much-awaited movie is set to hit U.S. theaters on December 17. The upcoming "Star Wars" stand-alone movie also stars Forest Whitaker, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Ben Mendelsohn, Riz Ahmed and Jonathan Aris.

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" follows Jyn Erso, a Rebellion soldier and outlaw who is about to experience her biggest challenge when Mon Mothma gives her a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. With the aid of the Rebels, a master swordsman and non-allied forces, Jyn will be in for something bigger than she thinks.
