The former Marine posts a photo of him putting a gun just inches away from his 7-month-old daughter Sailor Grace Meyer, and shares a pro-gun message in the caption.

AceShowbiz - Bristol Palin's husband Dakota Meyer sparked controversy when he posted on Instagram earlier this week a picture of him and his daughter. In the picture, the dad was seen showing off his favorite gun holster and putting his gun real close to his 7-month-old daughter Sailor Grace Meyer.

He also shared a pro-gun message in the caption, saying he's now carrying around a gun also to protect his loved ones. "Carrying has always been important to me for my own safety but now it is imperative because now I have someone relaying on me [sic]," he wrote. "Every day, everywhere I go, every time I carry and am honors to be using the Blood Stripe holster from @gcodeholsters [sic]."

The internet is of course not okay with it. Some people took to social media to slam the 28-year-old former Marine. "Apparently @Dakota_Meyer is competing w/ his wife for who can be the worst parent imaginable," said a Twitter user @KaJo503. "Classy. @Dakota_Meyer using pictures of his daughter whilst advertising holsters. Fits in with the #palin family values," @Alaskanbrawl added.

Meyer and the other members of the Palin family have been strongly supporting the right to bear arms. Recently, Bristol Palin teamed up with LifeHouse Maternity Home in Louisville, Kentucky to design a charity T-shirt with the words "Pro Life, Pro God, Pro Gun" printed on it.

Last week, she posted online a photo of her modeling the T-shirt. "Please do me a favor and support this amazing place and tell America how you feel about life, God, and guns," she captioned the snap.
