Chris Hemsworth Officially Announced to Join 'Star Trek 4'

The 'Avengers' actor is confirmed to reprise the role he previously played in the first installment of the 'Star Trek' movie reboot.

AceShowbiz - Chris Hemsworth has been signed for the upcoming follow-up to "Star Trek Beyond". The Thor of Marvel Cinematic Universe is expected to reprise his role as the father of Chris Pine's Captain James Kirk in the fourth installment of the rebooted franchise.

Hemsworth's George Kirk sacrificed his life when his ship was attacked in "Star Trek Into Darkness". Paramount announces, "Captain Kirk will cross paths with a man he never had a chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born: his father."

The news was first teased by J.J. Abrams during a press junket of "Star Trek Beyond" which is due Stateside on July 22. "Star Trek 4" will follow in 2018. The returning cast in the next entry include Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, John Cho, Karl Urban.
