The studio is reportedly close to landing the rights to make a live-action film based on the pocket monster game from Japan.

AceShowbiz - Hollywood has seemingly caught "Pokemon GO" fever, too. As the new mobile app has become hugely popular, Legendary Pictures is reportedly eying a "Pokemon" feature film. The studio is trying to secure the rights to make a live-action film based on the pocket monster game from Japan.

According to Deadline, "details are scant at this point" and "no deal has been closed," but "it's headed that way." Legendary and Pokemon USA have not commented on the report as both parties are presumably still hammering the deal.

"Pokemon" has suddenly become a big thing again following the release of "Pokemon GO". The new game puts Pokemon in the real world by utilizing GPS location information and makes players chase down the virtual pocket monsters in their own vehicles.

Nintendo's stock value has surged though it's just a one-third investor in "Pokemon". The franchise that began as trading cards in the 1990s has spawned a Japanese TV series and animated movies.
