The former 'Dancing with the Stars' contestant admits she's 'not perfect' and that her post 'went out of context.'

AceShowbiz - Mischa Barton took to Twitter on Friday, July 8 to issue an apology over her insensitive bikini tribute to Alton Sterling. The former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant admitted she's "not perfect" and that her post "went out of context."

Mischa first shared a family picture of Alton Sterling with the word "Justice for #AltonSterling" written on it. She followed it up with another picture which read, "If you are not angry ... You are not paying attention."

"I'm human I'm not perfect and I'm sorry if my Instagram post went out of context I didn't mean to offend anyone," Mischa wrote, "My heart goes out to the families of the innocent police officers who were shot in the line of duty. #PrayForDallas. Humanity is slipping through our fingers. Pray for the victims. Pray for our country. Pray for the world. #PrayForDallas."

The former star of "The O.C." also shared a quote by Malcolm X which read, "We are not fighting for integration, nor are we fighting for separation. We are fighting for recognition as human beings...In fact, we are actually fighting for rights that are even greater than civil rights and that is human rights."

Mischa received backlash after posting a photo of her in bikini drinking wine on a yacht while paying tribute to Alton Sterling. At the time, a commenter wrote, "Talking about someone's death while shamelessly posting a picture of yourself in a bikini is disgusting." Another user shared, "An embarrassment to America is you sipping rose on a yacht trying to compare your life to most Americans. Get over yourself. This fatality affects your life in NO way."
