Michelle Williams May Join Hugh Jackman in Live-Action Musical About Showman P.T. Barnum

The movie titled 'The Greatest Showman on Earth' is a biopic about P.T. Barnum, the founder of circus that became the famous traveling Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus.

AceShowbiz - Michelle Williams is in talks to star opposite Hugh Jackman in upcoming live-action musical "The Greatest Showman on Earth", Deadline has reported. Sources said that the "Shutter Island" actress would portray female lead character Jenny Lind.

The biopic centers on P.T. Barnum (Jackman), a showman with a penchant for hoaxing a gullible public as he creates the three-ring circus that made him famous. The film also focuses on his infatuation with singer Jenny Lind, the so-called Swedish Nightingale.

"The Greatest Showman on Earth" will be directed by Michael Garcey from a script written by Michael Arndt, who won Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for "Little Miss Sunshine". Jenny Bicks, Bill Condon and Jonathan Tropper have worked on previous drafts. Jackman will also produce the film along with Laurence Mark and Chernin Entertainment.

As for Michelle Williams, she can next be seen in "Wonderstruck" alongside Julianne Moore and Oakes Fegley. Her other credits include Kelly Reichardt's "Certain Women" and Kenneth Lonergan's "Manchester by the Sea", both of which debuted at Sundance.

"17 Again" actor Zac Efron is also rumored to join the cast for "The Greatest Showman on Earth" which will hit U.S. theaters on December 25, 2017.
