Listen to Rihanna's 'Sledgehammer' From 'Star Trek Beyond' in Full
Music

The Sia-penned song was already teased by Rihanna two years ago, when she posted part of the lyrics on Twitter.

AceShowbiz - Just a day after teasing it with a preview, Rihanna finally dropped her new song "Sledgehammer" in its entirety on Monday morning, June 27. The soaring ballad was written by Sia Furler and was recorded by RiRi for the soundtrack of the highly-anticipated movie "Star Trek Beyond".

The track highlights the Bajan beauty's powerful vocals over the dramatic instrumentals. "I hit a wall, I thought that I would hurt myself/ Oh I was sure, your words would leave me unconscious/ And on the floor I'd be lying cold, lifeless/ But I hit a wall, I hit 'em all, watch the fall/ You're just another brick and I'm a sledgehammer," she sings triumphantly in the chorus.

"Sledgehammer" was first teased by Rihanna back in 2014, when she shared part of the lyrics on Twitter. The song marks her and Sia's first collaboration since "Diamonds", the massive hit off 2012's "Unapologetic".

"Star Trek Beyond" is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on July 22. Directed by Justin Lin, it will see Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin and more reprising their roles from the previous films. No release date has been set for the accompanying soundtrack album.
