Chicago police are searching for the 'Nothing Compares 2 U' singer after one of her family members called authorities, saying that she threatened to jump off a bridge.

AceShowbiz - Police in Chicago are looking for Sinead O'Connor after one of her family members told authorities that the "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer threatened to kill herself. According to a TMZ report, Chicago Police Department received a call from Irish police who said that Sinead was suicidal.

The report said that the singer allegedly told one of her relatives that she was going to jump off a bridge in the Chicago area. A police at the Chicago Police Department scanner said, "The word from the Ireland police sergeant Claire Mulligan, Dublin, Ireland, is saying that at 1530 hours Sinead O'Connor called and said, 'I'm on a bridge in Chicago and I'm going to jump.' "

It was also said that Chicago police spotted a woman who fit Sinead's profile, but it was not her. Though it's not an active search, police have been told to be on the lookout for the singer.

Sinead has been struggling with depression recently. Just last month, she was reported missing after failing to return from a bike ride. Hours later, the 49-year-old songstress took to Facebook to say she'd been "abandoned." She wrote, "You all abandoned me FOR BEING SUICIDAL. YOU F**KING UTTER C****."
