AceShowbiz - Prince died from an accidental overdose of the opioid fentanyl, according to a report released by the Midwest Medical Examiner's office on Thursday, June 2. Fentanyl, prescribed by doctors for cancer treatment, is 25 to 50 times more potent than heroin and 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

The report from the medical examiner's office, shared on Twitter, didn't provide many details of Prince's death. "How injury occurred: The decedent self-administered fentanyl," the report said. For manner of death, a box was marked for "accident." The office will not release the singer's full autopsy and toxicology reports.

Prince was found dead at his estate in Minnesota on April 21. He was remembered by family and friends at a private memorial service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Sunday, May 15. The church was filled with hundreds of people including famous faces like Sly and the Family Stone's bassist Larry Graham and comedian Sinbad.

According to one of the attendees, Richard Weiner, the service was beautiful. "They talked about his faith, how he became a Jehovah's Witness, and his actions after that were to glorify God in words and deeds," he said.
