Keira Knightley Defended by Directors and Fellow Stars After John Carney Trashed Her
Movie

'Never Let Me Go' director, Zach Braff, 'Laggies' helmer and Nia Vardalos are among those defending the actress after her acting was criticized by 'Begin Again' director.

AceShowbiz - Keira Knightley gets support from a number of Hollywood figures after John Carney who directed her in musical dramedy "Begin Again" bashed her talent. While Carney suggested Knightley didn't give her all in front of camera, other directors and fellow actors begged to differ.

Mark Romanek tweeted, "My experience with #keiraknightley was utterly spectacular on every level. I have no clue what this guy is talking about." The filmmaker who directed Knightley in 2010's "Never Let Me Go" added the hashtag "arrogant**thead" in reference to Carney.

Romanek also refuted Carney's claim that the "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit" actress had "an entourage that follow her everywhere." "My recollection of #keiraknightley's 'entourage' was that her mum visited the set one day for an hour or two," he wrote.

Zach Braff replied to Romanek's comment, "I thought that was a really s**tty thing to do. Now I know one of my favorite filmmakers agrees. #FreeKeira." Lorene Scafaria ("Seeking a Friend for the End of the World") chimed in, "I agree with Mark. Keira was a joy to work w/. Present & easy & really, really good at her job. Just lovely." Nia Vardalos applauded Scafaria, "Thank you @LoreneScafaria for refuting moronic comments about a great actor whose beauty is secondary to her talent."

"Laggies" director Lynn Shelton joined Team Knightley as well, "Working with #KeiraKnightley was magnificent, top to bottom. She is the real deal. #Knightleylove." Danny Strong ("Empire") also had nothing but praise for the actress, "I think two time Oscar nominated actress Keira Knightley is fantastic. Big fan."
