Franco puts a spin into the 1996 cult classic, making it a 'cool, edgy, vampire lesbian movie' for Lifetime.

AceShowbiz - "Mother, May I Sleep with Danger?" is back 20 years after the original aired on NBC. The first trailer of the Lifetime movie is released, showing the twisted version from executive producer James Franco.

When theater major Leah brings home the special someone in her life to meet her mom, Julie, the family is met with a surprise when Pearl comes to the door. Julie tries to embrace the idea of Leah's new love interest, but she can't shake the feeling that something is very wrong. Julie's suspicions lead to a startling discovery about Pearl that puts Leah in serious danger. Will Julie be able to save her daughter from an eternity of heartache before it's too late?

Tori Spelling starred in the 1996 thriller as the teen who fell for murderous bad boy, played by Ivan Sergei. She is now taking the role of the mother whose daughter is dating a vampire girl. "I think this is just too much for me to handle right now," she says in the trailer. Franco makes an appearance in the June 18 TV movie, which will also feature Sergei's cameo.

"I wanted to change things a little bit," Franco told ET of the reboot, adding, "[The idea] came out of Will Ferrell having done 'A Deadly Adoption'. Will told me that he was actually inspired by my going on 'General Hospital' when he did that." Spelling chimed in, "James has totally put his own spin on it, which is why they brought along James Franco, of course. It's this cool, edgy, vampire lesbian movie."
