'Insidious Chapter 4' Officially Aims for 2017 Release With New Director

AceShowbiz - The latest installment in the successful horror franchise "Insidious" is moving forward. Universal announces on Monday, May 16 that "Insidious Chapter 4" gets a pre-Halloween release on October 20, 2017 in the U.S.

At the same time, newcomer Adam Robitel was revealed as the director for the project. He will use the script by Leigh Whannell who wrote and directed "Insidious Chapter 3". Robitel's credit includes "The Taking of Deborah Logan".

There is no plot story unveiled yet but it looks like it will center on Elise Rainier once again. Lin Shaye, who stars as the parapsychologist in the first three films, will return. She appeared in a hilarious video to announce the project.

The fourth chapter brings back the old team of Jason Blum, Oren Peli and James Wan as producers, as well as Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Charles Layton as exec producers. Jason Blum is producing again through Blumhouse.
