AceShowbiz - The nominees of the 2016 CMT Music Awards were announced on Monday, May 9. Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton and Cam lead the pack with three nods each, including the coveted Video of the Year Award for the "American Idol" alum's "Smoke Break", his "Fire Away" and the newcomer's "Burning House".
Also vying for the prestigious prize are Blake Shelton ("Sangria"), Florida Georgia Line ("Sippin' on Fire"), Jason Aldean ("Tonight Looks Good on You"), Keith Urban ("John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16"), Little Big Town ("Girl Crush"), Luke Bryan ("Strip It Down"), Sam Hunt ("Break Up in a Small Town"), Thomas Rhett ("Die a Happy Man") and Tim McGraw ("Humble and Kind").
Underwood and Stapleton are also pitted against each other in the CMT Performance of the Year category. Her "Smoke Break" is additionally nominated for the Female Video of the Year while his "Fire Away" is up for the Breakthrough Video of the Year title.
Some non-country stars somehow manage to get nominated at this year's the CMT Music Awards. Pop singers Adam Lambert and Leona Lewis are included in the CMT Performance of the Year category for their duet of "Girl Crush". Rock groups Lynyrd Skynyrd and Cheap Trick are featured in the same category for the former's "What's Your Name" with Brantley Gilbert and the latter's "I Want You To Want Me" with Jennifer Nettles from CMT Crossroads.
Fans can vote for their favorite nominees on CMT.com until June 6 at 12.01 A.M. E.T. Winners will be unveiled during the ceremony that's broadcast live from Nashville on Wednesday, June 8 on CMT.
