A search warrant for the late singer's home was issued on Thursday but the contents were sealed to prevent any compromise.

AceShowbiz - It is now confirmed that Prince's death is being investigated for possible drug overdose. A law enforcement official said investigators were looking into whether a doctor was prescribing him drugs in the weeks leading to his death.

Per The AP, investigators are also trying to find out whether a doctor was on the plane that made an emergency landing in Illinois on April 15, a week before the musician was found dead in elevator of his apartment. Prince was treated in a hospital in Moline that night but the nature of his illness was not revealed to public.

The law enforcement official was not authorized to speak to the media because any disclosure of the details could "compromise this law enforcement investigation." A search warrant for Prince's Paisley Park home and studio was filed on Thursday, April 28 under a seal.

At the same time, TMZ reported that doctors prescribed Percocet, a powerful painkiller, in 2009 when he was suffering from hip problems. He reportedly had corrective surgery sometime around 2010, but by then he was already addicted to the drug. The Illinois emergency landing was allegedly made because he almost died from Percocet OD.

Prince was indeed seen visiting a local Walgreens pharmacy several times before his death.
