The network's top executives have 'personally apologized' to Kelly for the way they handled the announcement of Michael's transition to 'Good Morning America' last week.

AceShowbiz - Kelly Ripa has received an apology from ABC's top executives after blindsiding her about Michael Strahan's transition to "Good Morning America". According to CNN, Disney-ABC Television Group Ben Sherwood has "expressed regret for the way Kelly was told the news."

Kelly was reportedly only told 30 minutes before the network made the official announcement. It was earlier reported that Kelly was "livid" because she hadn't been given an advance warning about Michael's departure.

Kelly was later absent from the Wednesday and Thursday shows, although she had been earlier expected to miss Friday and Monday shows due to a family vacation to Turks and Caicos. She is now set to return to the daytime talk show on Tuesday.

"She's going to be back tomorrow, which we are all excited about," Michael said when co-hosting the Monday episode with "Pretty Little Liars" star Shay Mitchell.

Weighing in on the "Live!" drama, Katie Couric told E! News, "My feeling is they'll work it out." She added, "I think Kelly, obviously, should be included in any kind of massive transition like that. Hopefully she'll move forward and Michael will move forward and it will all work out. Yes, it's been quite a brouhaha."

The drama surrounding Michael's exit aside, Shay had a minor wardrobe malfunction when serving as a guest co-host on the show. One of the straps on her Ganni blouse broke while she and Michael were interviewing Donnie Wahlberg. During the commercial break, the show's stylists came on stage to sew the strap back on the outfit.

Shay poked fun at the situation as she posted on Instagram, "AS IF I WASN'T NERVOUS ENOUGH...casual wardrobe malfunction while co-hosting @kellyandmichael (everyone should worry considering Sammy is the one trying to fix it) Thank you @michaelstrahan , I had THE BEST time!" along with a picture of the crew members trying to fix her dress.
