Zac Efron Back to Television With MTV Documentary

The 'Baywatch' star will host and executive produce a docu-series about the importance of food in Millennial culture.

AceShowbiz - Zac Efron is heading back to small screen, almost a decade after he starred in Disney Channel's "High School Musical". The 28-year-old actor will host a documentary special on MTV, in addition to serving as executive producer along with Michael Simkin, Jason Barrett, Brian Volk-Weiss, Cisco Henson and Edwin Zane.

According to the official description, the yet-to-be-titled show "explores how food has moved to the center of millennial culture through his own unique lens as an actor, traveler and food lover. The project will look beyond the extravagant and obscure in cuisine to explore the artistry, storytelling and journeys in what we eat and the issues and experiences surrounding what we find on our plates."

It's one of some new upcoming projects that have been announced by the network, including Nicole Byer-starring comedy "Loosely Exactly Nicole", comedy about weed dealers "Mary + Jane", a hip-hop singing competition show from Mark Burnett, and reality competition series "Stranded with a Million Bucks".

Efron is currently busy filming "Baywatch" movie in which he stars alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Kelly Rohrbach, Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra, Ilfenesh Hadera and Hannibal Buress. He recently updated his Instagram account with a picture from the set of the movie.

The hunk was last seen on television when he took part in the first episode of NBC's reality series "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" in 2014.
