'Empire' 2.15 Preview: A Lyon Will Fall
TV

Anika has a medical emergency as Hakeem and Laura's relationship suffers a major blow due to Anika's pregnancy.

AceShowbiz - The race for the Empire throne is getting uglier. After [SPOILER ALERT!] Lucious sabotaged Hakeem at a shareholder's meeting, he now has to cover up his son's mistake for getting Anika pregnant.

In the latest episode of "Empire", Anika finally announced her pregnancy to the Lyons, who didn't take it as good news. Next week, Anika's pregnancy will come as a blow to Hakeem's relationship with Laura.

But Anika herself has an issue with her pregnancy, as she is seen being taken in an ambulance in a preview for the upcoming outing. Cookie who comes just in time looks genuinely worried. Could Lucious be behind this since he threatened Anika after she turned down a $10 million offer to give the baby to Hakeem and exit their lives for good?

Also in "More Than Kin" that will air Wednesday, April 27, Lucious hosts a fundraiser with help from Andre, as part of his campaign to prove to the board that he should return as Empire's CEO. Meanwhile, Hakeem must decide whether he wants to be a father to his and Anika's child.

Grace Gealey who plays Anika has talked to TVLine about Anika's pregnancy. Asked whether there's a chance she might be back with Hakeem or Lucious, she says, "Hakeem, nope. This was a phase where she was desperate enough to fool herself into thinking she wanted Hakeem and he wanted her. They will always have a warmth for each other, but not in the 'relationship' kind of way. Lucious, possibly. I think deep down inside, Anika will always have a soft spot for him. But he is dangerous, and I think she's beginning to fully realize that."

There has been speculation that Anika was the one who pushed Rhonda down the stairs and caused her miscarriage. While it has not been confirmed, co-star Kaitlin Doubleday once promised there would be a "dynamic, crazy, insane, scary" confrontation between Rhonda and her attacker in the season 2 finale. Gealey further teases about the scene, "All I will say is, you gotta watch it. I promise you - the less I say, the more gratifying it will be for you to experience. You'll thank me later!"
