AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. and Legendary treated everyone watching the 2016 MTV Movie Awards to a first sneak-peek of "Kong: Skull Island". During the telecast on Sunday, April 10, the studio debuted a featurette including a behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the film's cast members.

The less-than-three-minute video shows a group of soldiers arriving in an uncharted island where they'll later encounter the beast named King Kong. It also offers glimpses of explosions, a fiery landscape and some gigantic skeletons while the actors tease what the film will be about.

Tom Hiddleston says in front of the camera that he's going to play Captain James Conrad, a former British SAS officer whom the star himself describes as someone who "understands nature and the ways of the jungle." He leads an expedition to the mysterious island inhabited by "strange, new creatures, mythic beasts" that may threaten his and his crew's lives.

Brie Larson, meanwhile, portrays "photojournalist and peace activist" named Weaver who "wants to work with these creatures rather than fight against them." Joining them in the cast are Samuel L. Jackson, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell and John Goodman among others.

Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, "Kong: Skull Island" is set for release in the U.S. on March 10, 2017. Legendary will follow it up with "Godzilla" on June 8, 2018 before pitting the two monsters against each other in "Godzilla vs. Kong" that's scheduled for 2020.
