Amid rumors that the former Disney darling and her beau have called off their engagement for the second time, HolywoodLife.com reports that things between the two weren't always smooth, but they're still trying to make their relationship work.
"It is not a perfect relationship but it still is a relationship," a so-called insider told the site. "At the end of the day they are in love with each other but still have a lot of work to do to make things great. They get into fights but one thing they are making sure to do is to keep their relationship separate from their careers."
"They didn't do that last time and that is what made the relationship fizzle. But they are really being careful to make it work this time. It is a process they definitely want to succeed with," the source added.
After breaking up in 2013, Miley and Liam sparked reconciliation rumors after she was spotted hanging out again with the actor and wearing the Neil Lane-designed diamond ring he gave her when he proposed to her. However, they're rumored to be splitting again after Miley was seen without the ring in a recent photo shared on Instagram.
