'The Flash' star Grant Gustin teases a possibility of 'Supergirl' crossing over with other DC Comics heroes which currently appear on The CW's series as saying, 'That's in the cards at this point.'

AceShowbiz - The "Supergirl" / "The Flash" crossover may be the first of many future crossovers with the Kryptonian superheroine and other DC Comics heroes who currently appear on TV. Grant Gustin who reprises his role as Barry Allen a.k.a. the speedster in the special episode of "Supergirl" says bringing Supergirl, Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow together on small screen is something which they envision.

"That's in the cards at this point," Gustin says of the possible bigger crossover after the upcoming Supergirl-The Flash team-up. "The whole point of us doing this crossover is setting up the fact that maybe next year we can cross over all of them."

The "Supergirl" / "The Flash" crossover will happen in episode 18 of "Supergirl" season 1 titled "World's Finest" which will air Monday, March 28 at 8/7c on CBS. Andrew Kreisberg who executive produces both shows reveal that parallel universes play a part in making the crossover possible, since "The Flash" series never mentioned Metropolis and its superhero.

"If Supergirl and Flash were existing in the same universe, then why has no one on Flash or Arrow ever talked about Metropolis or the fact that there's a Superman?" Kreisberg points out. "The one explanation for that is because he doesn't exist in that world."

So how Barry ends up meeting Kara a.k.a. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist)? According to EW, Barry, "who has has been training to increase his already supersonic speed in order to fight ubervillain Zoom, uses a tachyon device that causes him to run so fast he literally ends up in an alternate universe."

While the two initially didn't know each other, they quickly bond over their same backgrounds. "He teaches her quite a bit about what it means to be a hero, what kind of hero she wants to be, and even personally about love, friendship, and being true to who you are," Benoist says, "It feels really good for her to have someone to relate to."

Will their relationship turn into something romantic? "We tease it a little bit," Gustin says. "He's in town for a day so there's not really time for anything to actually develop, but there's undeniable chemistry, and they have a lot of things in common that they'll never have in common with anybody else, obviously. This is the first person with powers Barry [has met] who's using them for good. It happens to be somebody that he is attracted to, so it's cool."

On how Kara's friends James (Mehcad Brooks) and Winn (Jeremy Jordan) react to the arrival of another superhero, Kreisberg dishes, "Part of the fun is watching Winn and James react to suddenly seeing Kara's got a new friend who's a superhero. Winn thinks all things Multiverse are cool and wants to be Barry's best friend. Meanwhile, James Olsen is a little bit like, 'Hmm, I didn't really have any competition until the guy with superpowers showed up.' "

According to synopsis for the episode, Kara gains a new ally when the lightning-fast superhero The Flash suddenly appears from an alternate universe and helps Kara battle Siobhan, a.k.a. Silver Banshee, and Livewire in exchange for her help in finding a way to return him home.
