The pilot of the Seth Rogen-executive produced series includes a scene that depicts the death of the 'Jack Reacher' actor.

AceShowbiz - AMC's "Preacher" pilot was screened during the South by Southwest film festival on Monday, March 14. One scene was particularly memorable as it surprisingly features A-list actor Tom Cruise, whose involvement in the new series had never been heard before.

The said scene depicts the death of the "Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation" actor. In the scene, Cruise appears in a news report that shows him speaking in front of a Church of Scientology audience. The church then explodes.

Speaking to audience and reporters, executive producer Seth Rogen said that he wondered how he would explain it to Cruise. "I will run into [Cruise] one day though, that will happen," the actor predicted. "And I'll have to explain that. I'll have to come up with a way in my head to make it seem complimentary but I haven't done it yet."

The "Preacher" pilot is packed with a lot of comic ultra-violence that may draw comparisons to the R-rated blockbuster film "Deadpool".

Starring Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, the adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's cult 1990s comic book series follows the titular character, "a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith, has learned that God has left Heaven and abandoned His responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making Him answer for His dereliction of duty."

Also executive produced by Evan Goldberg, it will debut Monday, May 22 at 10 P.M. ET/PT on AMC.
