Geoff Johns Talks the Significance of Robin's Suit in 'Batman v Superman' and Who It Belongs to
Movie

The 'Dawn of Justice' executive producer says the suit is displayed in Batcave as 'a reminder' and 'to fuel him to continue to do what he does.'

AceShowbiz - Ever since Robin's suit was seen in a trailer for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", there have been rumors about who it may belong to. The most likely answer is Jason Todd, but Geoff Johns, chief creative officer at DC Entertainment, says no specific name will be mentioned in the movie.

"We'll be exploring that," Johns tells EW, hinting that the suit which appears to have been covered with Joker graffiti will lay groundwork for other future movies. "No one says specifically the name of which Robin that is," he insists.

On the significance of Robin's suit in "Batman v Superman", Johns who also executive produces the movie says, "You can extrapolate that if Batman kept his suit like that, it's a reminder." He adds, "He's displayed the suit of a fallen ally, fallen friend in the center of the Batcave. It's right there for a reason, and part of it is to fuel him to continue to do what he does."

As the suit also suggests that Robin may have died in the hands of Joker, Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman will start to think if he really saved anyone or he made things worse instead. "He's projecting his own sense of failure, his own sense of disillusionment, his own cynicism onto Superman," says Ben Affleck who plays the Caped Crusader.

While Robin, except for his suit, won't be featured in the movie, you can expect an appearance of other comic book characters such as Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Darkseid and The Flash (Ezra Miller). According to EW, The Flash will appear in Bruce's nightmare, delivering a cryptic message to the Dark Knight.

But this scene is expected to start a debate about whether it's really a dream or the speedster breaking through time-space to deliver the message. Director Zack Snyder calls it "a giant Easter egg," adding, "We had such a straightforward narrative, on one hand, I wanted this other layer of the movie to be complicated and bizarre..."

With so many big characters packed into the movie, apparently there is no room left for Jena Malone, who has been cast in a secret role. The actress has been cut from the theatrical version, but her character will be featured in the extended, R-rated, "Ultimate Edition" Blu-ray.

"Batman v Superman" will open in theaters across the nation on March 25. Henry Cavill returns as Clark Kent/Superman, Jesse Eisenberg stars as Lex Luthor, Amy Adams reprises her role as Lois Lane, and Gal Gadot is introduced as Diana or Wonder Woman.
