Days after canceling what was supposed to be her surprise appearance at the awards show, Hill joins the Canadian singer for 'In the Night' on Jimmy Fallon's 'Tonight Show'.

AceShowbiz - The Weeknd finally got to share the stage with Lauryn Hill. After she failed to show up at the 2016 Grammy Awards, Hill joined the 26-year-old singer for his song "In the Night" in the Friday, February 19 episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon".

The Weeknd kicked off his set singing the first few lines of the track solo while backed by The Roots. Midway through the song, the Canadian crooner surprised viewers when he introduced Hill. Following the performance, he took to Twitter to thank the veteran entertainer, writing, "Most important experience of my life. thank you Ms. Hill."

Hill was supposed to be The Weeknd's special guest at the Grammys on Monday, February 15. The former The Fugees member and the Recording Academy Presiden Neil Portnow have been giving conflicting statements regarding her cancellation.

Her rep first blamed the Grammys for prematurely announcing her involvement at the event. In a statement, the rep said Hill never confirmed her appearance because she's not sure she would make it to Los Angeles' Staples Center where the awards show was held.

Later, Portnow said to reporters backstage that Hill was at the venue for a dress rehearsal earlier on Monday only to scrap her performance later in the day. Responding to that rebuttal, Hill's rep issued another statement a few days ago explaining, "Ms. Hill attempted a last minute rush to L.A., to see if this could happen, but unfortunately timing that day kept it from being a reality."
