Celebrity

The 'Heart Attack' singer tweeted in the middle of the night on Sunday about women empowerment and how it should be executed.

AceShowbiz - Demi Lovato is the latest celebrity to back up Kesha (previously Ke$ha) amid her legal battle against longtime producer Dr. Luke and her label Sony. The 23-year-old singer vent her frustration over Kesha's situation in a series of tweets over the weekend, encouraging women to speak up for themselves.

Her first tweet on Saturday, February 20 read, "#FreeKesha this is only gonna make you stronger, you brave and beautiful girl. Prayers are with you @KeshaRose." On Sunday morning, she talked about how frustrating that women were not being taken seriously. "Frustrating to see women come forward with their past only to be shot down, not believed & disrespected for their bravery in taking action," she wrote. "Happens way too often. I'm ready for women to be taken just as seriously as men."

She continued, "Someone tell me why anyone would ever feel brave enough to come forward if they are most likely to be ignored or called a liar?" Kesha alleged in her lawsuit against Dr. Luke that she had been sexually, physically and emotionally abused by her collaborator for years. On Friday, New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich denied her request of being released from her contract due to lack of evidence on her allegations.

"I'm also ready for self-proclaimed feminists to start speaking out or taking action for women's rights," Lovato opined. "Women empowerment is speaking up for other women even when it's something uncomfortable to speak up about. Women empowerment is using your voice to help the voiceless women be heard. Women empowerment is taking action now, not when it's convenient. Women empowerment is leading other women to make actual changes in our society. Women empowerment is tweeting at 2:30 am knowing the consequences of these tweets and not giving a single f**k."
