AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift and Coldplay were among the winners of the 2016 NME Awards, which was held on Wednesday evening, February 17 at London's O2 Academy Brixton. The 26-year-old songbird bagged the Best International Solo Artist, edging out competitors like Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Rey, Courtney Barnett, Kanye West and Grimes.

Coldplay, meanwhile, was honored with the Godlike Genius Award. Kylie Minogue, a close pal of lead singer Chris Martin, handed out the prize to the band. "We feel grateful for our jobs, we feel grateful for the people who work with us, and it's a big cliche but we feel very grateful for the people who listen to us and give us this love," Martin said in his speech

David Bowie, Charli XCX and Dave Grohl were other notable names in music making up the winner list. The late musician's "Five Years" was awarded the Best Reissue title. Charli won the Best British Solo Artist over other chart-toppers like Adele and Ed Sheeran. As for Grohl, the Foo Fighters frontman was named Hero of the Year, beating out Adele, West and Swift.

Idris Elba, Vicky McClure and Donald Trump were also listed as the winners. While the former two were honored with the Best Actor and Best Actress Awards respectively, the Republican presidential candidate who's no stranger to controversies was named Villain of the Year.

In addition to giving away prizes, the 2016 NME Awards saw performances from some acts including Coldplay, who closed out the night with some of their biggest hits such as "Viva La Vida" and "Fix You".
