Beyonce Once Rejected 'Awful' Collaboration With Coldplay

Coldplay's Chris Martin reveals that he once played the singer a song called 'Hook Up', which she rejected 'in the sweetest possible way.'

AceShowbiz - Beyonce Knowles doesn't easily say yes to working with other musicians. The former Destiny's Child singer had to turn down a collaboration with Coldplay in the past, deeming the song they brought to her too "awful."

The British band's frontman Chris Martin himself makes the revelation in a new interview for Rolling Stone's February issue which he covers. He said that he once played the track titled "Hook Up" for the Queen and producer Stargate in the studio, and got rejected "in the sweetest possible way." He recalled, "She told me, 'I really like you - but this is awful.' "

Coldplay eventually got to work with Bey on "Hymn for the Weekend", a song for the group's latest album "A Head Full of Dreams". They also managed to have the 34-year-old diva perform with them during the Super Bowl 50 halftime show over the weekend.

They didn't reunite on the Levi's Stadium stage for their collaboration, though. Coldplay delivered a medley of their hits while Bey gave the first live rendition of her "Formation".

Following her performance, Bey said of her Mike WiLL Made It-produced song in a chat with Entertainment Tonight, "It makes me proud. It's what I wanted. I wanted people to feel proud, have love for themselves." Of playing Super Bowl for the second time (she headlined the big game in 2013), she shared, "It felt great. The best part was seeing Coldplay, for me 'cause I was able to watch from the back and really enjoy it."
