J.Lo's 'Shades of Blue' Renewed Despite Experiencing Ratings Decline

NBC is looking forward to working with the super busy actress for 'what we know will be a fantastic second season.'

AceShowbiz - NBC is keeping Jennifer Lopez in the family. On Friday, February 5, the network announced that "Shades of Blue" had been renewed for a second season that will take the rookie show on air to the end of the year.

"We want to thank Jennifer, who is the hardest working woman we know, for her incredible efforts as both the star and producer of this show, as well as well as our other amazing producers and cast for all their tireless work in creating one of the most compelling dramas on television today," NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said in a statement. "We're so excited to find out where this story will lead and have them raise the stakes even higher in what we know will be a fantastic second season."

The series centers on Lopez's Harlee Santos, a single-mother NYPD Detective, who is forced to work in the FBI's anti-corruption task force, while dealing with her own financial problems. It also stars Ray Liotta and Drea de Matteo as Lopez's co-workers.

Premiered on January 7, "Shades of Blue" averaged 11.2 million in total viewers for its first three episodes. It actually experiences a decline in ratings this week, dropping 15|percent| in the key demo adults 18-49 and hitting series low at 1.1/4.
