Darth Vader to Have More Significant Role in 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story'

It has been confirmed that Darth Vader will appear in 'Rogue One' and he reportedly will have a more significant role than previously thought.

AceShowbiz - New details of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" have emerged. Movie fans who have been curious about whether or not Darth Vader will appear in the movie taking place before the events of "Episode IV" can now get the answer.

Speculations about Darth Vader appearing in "Rogue One" have been swirling around since last year. Now, JoBlo has confirmed that the character will appear in the upcoming film and he will have a bigger role than previously thought.

However, the website cannot say specifically how big or how involved his role is. Birth.Movies.Death previously said that the character would be "showing up via viewscreen or holo projection or something."

In addition to addressing Darth Vader rumors, JoBlo confirms that stormtroopers in all-black costumes will also appear in the movie. Multiple sources told the website that the stormtroopers would be called "Death Troopers."

The website also dishes on a droid that works with the rebels, particularly Felicity Jones' group, in the upcoming film. Regarding the character which is dubbed a "scene stealer," the website explains, "It was originally an Empire droid and has been repurposed to serve the rebel alliance.... In terms of appearance, the droid has long arms and legs and is very different than a typical protocol droid like C-3PO." The website also speculates if the character is the one played by Alan Tudyk.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, "Rogue One" is said to be more like a war film involving the heist of the plans for the Death Star. The cast members include Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed and Forest Whitaker. It is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on December 16.
